Canada Hunts
Caribou Hunts - 2001

caribou hunting The Hunting Area: This combined hunt includes a trophy hunt for Central Canadian Barrenground Caribou, Arctic Tundra Wolf and Wolverine. Base camp is out of Jolly Lake, which is situated 140 miles north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. This area is most commonly known as the Barrenlands and is approximately 100 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

It is through this area that the caribou migrate on the way to their winter feeding grounds. The Bathurst Caribou herd is estimated to have 450,000 animals. While the caribou are in the Jolly Lake area, it is not uncommon to see groups of hundreds of animals at one particular time. This is the reason for our high success rate.

Hunt Dates: Hunting season starts August 15th. Jolly Lake camp closes approximately September 25th.

Transportation: Hunters who are taken out to location by powered boats and hunters who are on foot have an equal chance of success. Each hunting party consists of two hunters per guide. We offer an all inclusive hunt from Yellowknife to the Barrenlands and back. Please allow one travel day to camp and one travel day back to Yellowknife. Hunts are actual field days.

Cost: 12 hunters may be booked to a party. Cost is $2700.00 per hunter (5 days/5 nights) or $3500 per hunter (7 days/7 nights). A second caribou is $500.00. Fishing is optional at $300 per person (does not apply to a two tag hunt).
